The program’s unique appeal lies in allowing participants to actively discover the edible world of the forest, while the region’s ecological and cultural values are presented in a new light.
An Adventure into Nature (by Forest Train): A Journey on the Lillafüred State Forest Railway
The tour departs from the Végállomás Restaurant, where participants board the Lillafüred State Forest Railway, which carries them through the forests of the Bükk Mountains to the program’s location.
The journey itself is one of the region’s iconic experiences, providing a unique perspective for exploring the landscape.
Edible Forest: Gastro-Stand-up and Nature-Focused Education through an Expert's Eyes
The program continues at the “Edible Forest” station under expert guidance, where participants discover edible wild plants, wild fruits, and mushrooms, while stories, curiosities, and forest “stand-up” add color to the experience. The professional guidance is provided by, among others, Gyula Bózsó, a certified forest engineer, forest food scout, and edible wild plant expert. By the end of the program, participants will view the forest through completely different eyes—and perhaps with a slightly different taste.
Flavors of the Bükk Mountains on the Plate: A Four-Course Modern Gastronomic Experience
An optional gastronomic program is also available to further deepen the experience. The kitchen of the Végállomás Restaurant processes ingredients inspired by the Bükk Mountains within a four-course menu, featuring a modern approach.
This selection provides an opportunity for the flavors discovered during the tour to be presented in a restaurant setting with high gastronomic quality.
Mindfulness and Nature: A Summary of the Flavors of the Bükk Mountains Experience Tour
The “Flavors of the Bükk Mountains” experience tour offers a comprehensive experience by combining nature hiking, knowledge sharing, and gastronomy. The program showcases the forests of the Bükk Mountains from a new perspective and helps participants connect with the natural environment in a more conscious and sensitive way.
This program is available in English, German, Russian, Polish and Finnish for group bookings only, with a minimum group size of 25 participants.
